One thing I
really like while working on Black & white image
conversions, is to “push”
them into a time decade with just editing the exposure values
(luminance contrast
and luminance curves) and the grain (okay a little vignette
and/or border could
enhance the effect you want to achieve).
It is the illustrative effect of grainy old black and white images that makes me addicted to them.
Below you will find three images, taken with very different camera types, all converted with different “digital chemicals”. In opposite to some photographers I have no fixed workflow for my black and white conversions, as every image needs a different treatment. But this is the fun part, finding out which way will work best to get the most out of the image. Enjoy.
